BLISSFUL TONIC
FALL 2023 | LIQUID PACKAGING PROJECT
BLISSFUL TONIC is a set of three beverages inspired by a personal experience trying my first cannabis-infused beverage from a brand called "Trail Magic." I was excited to produce my concept within that category! Existing beverages in this category are either too minimal or too over-saturated. I wanted to create a fun, in-between visual design.
BLISSFUL TONIC has three flavors: lemon-lime, berry berry, and peachy peach. These beverages can each be sold separately or come in a variety 4-pack that includes a mystery flavor. Designing the outer packaging in addition to the cans allowed me to explore how to approach the box differently from the cans to avoid unnecessary repetition but still make it look like both components belong together.
I wanted to create a brand name that communicated a feeling a consumer can get when drinking the beverages. People think of cannabis as a mood booster and providing relaxation. The “blissful” in BLISSFUL TONIC means joy or happiness, and “tonic” can be a substance taken to give a feeling of well-being.
With the logo, I wanted to evoke happiness in a simple way by creating a happy or laughing face and I paired it with the brand name in a badge format.
NAME + LOGO
For this brand, I wanted to pick colors that are bright and fun, which also helped me narrow down flavors to have each look different and not too similar to each other. The colors chosen relate to the flavor; for example, the peach-flavored drink is represented by red and orange.
For the type, I wanted to keep it simple to pair with the colors and texture on the can. I chose “Portofino” because it is a sans-serif font that has playful bending in some of the letters, and I paired it with “Proxima Nova” (for secondary smaller type).
